What is it?
It can be incredibly difficult to see a loved one suffering from severe breathing complications – and it’s even harder when it affects a child. There are a wide variety of temporary and chronic respiratory conditions that can affect everyone from newborns to the aged. In the past the solution was a relatively large, noisy and difficult to transport mechanical ventilator. The Philips Trilogy 100 is a portable life support ventilator with extensive battery capability, able to provide unobtrusive ventilatory support in the home. The Trilogy can assist or replace the work of breathing and is able to store information about how the device is being used, meaning that therapy can be adjusted and fine-tuned to the patient’s individual needs.
How is it changing lives?
Just after his first birthday, Barnaby Clark from Fowey in Cornwall was diagnosed with cancer. He had surgery to remove a brain tumour, followed by chemotherapy and radiation – which ultimately affected his breathing. During his treatment he developed Ondine Syndrome (Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome) and now needs constant access to a ventilator. Having access to a Philips Trilogy 100 portable ventilator has meant he can be cared for in the comfort of his home. Barnaby’s quality of life has improved greatly and his parents are thrilled that he can finally start to live the life of a normal toddler.
Many thousands of people could potentially benefit from more portable ventilation. The Philips Trilogy 100 can give those patients more freedom and mobility, make them more comfortable and ultimately reunite them with their families and loved ones at home.
Because our innovations are inspired by you and your patients, the bi-level ventilator BiPAP A-40 has been designed to combine ease of use and comfort with technological innovations that adapt to your patient’s condition to deliverenhanced therapy.
